Mr. Paumgarten has been a director of E. W. Scripps since 1988. He has served as Chairman of Corsair Capital LLC (an investment firm) since March 2006. He served as Managing Director of J.P. Morgan Chase and the Chairman of J.P. Morgan Corsair II Capital Partners L.P. from February 1992 to March 2006. He is a director of Compucredit (a credit card company) and Sparta Insurance.
