Food Network Donation Will Help Feed Over 1,000 Kids This Summer
More than 25,000 people turned out for the International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville, Tenn., May 16-18. The event, sponsored in part by Food Network, featured a biscuit bakeoff, the Southern Food Writers Conference, booths with every type of biscuit imaginable, a Biscuit Brunch and a cooking demonstration by Food Network celebrity chef Tyler Florence, who shared a new recipe to produce fluffy biscuits in just 12 minutes. In addition to the festival sponsorship, Food Network also donated $15,000 to Second Harvest of East Tennessee and $10,000 to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry initiative to serve more than 1,000 meals to disadvantaged children over the summer, a time when many kids go without regular meals.
