GAC has Florida Georgia line, Brantly Gilbert, Jana Kramer, Scotty McCreery for 'ACM New Artist' special

Up and comers pick up individual categories, vie for fan voted ACM New Artist of the Year

NASHVILLE, TENN. --March 18, 2013 – Reigning ACM New Artist Scotty McCreery knows exactly how Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer feel as they compete for this year’s ACM New Artist of the Year award making him the perfect host for the ACM New Artist special premiering Monday, March 25, 8:00 p.m./ET on Great American Country.  “Winning the ACM award was a huge stepping stone for me and is kind of cool for me and my fans,” said McCreery. “Even those who maybe weren’t fans were made aware of me through that show.”

Each act receives their individual category trophy from McCreery and for some, make the first acceptance speech of their career. Florida Georgia Line earned the ACM New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year prize and performs hits “Cruise” and “Get Your Shine On.”  “This has all happened so fast, I just think we’re the luckiest guys in the world to get to do music for a living,” said Brian Kelley.  “What’s cool about it is that if we don’t win, we know one of our friends is going to win so it’s kind of just a win/win situation,” added Tyler Hubbard.

Brantley Gilbert took the ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year prize and is up for New Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year; he is quick to point out who his friends are.  “I’ve never considered them fans, we consider them friends,” he said.   “I don’t sing anything I don’t write and I don’t write anything I hadn’t been through so I think a friend is someone who knows you and if you listen to any of my records, you got a pretty good idea of who I am, good or bad.”  Gilbert performs “More Than Miles” and “Kick It In the Sticks.”

ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year Jana Kramer is enjoying a second successful career.  “I think the greatest compliment is when someone comes up to me and says, ‘I had no idea you were an actress,’” says the former star of the hit series One Tree Hill.  “I love that; I want people to like me just for my music.”  Kramer performs “Why Ya Wanna” and “Whiskey” and jokes that regardless if she or fiancé Gilbert win, the trophy ends up at the same house.

Final round fan voting for the ACM New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s Department Stores category will begin at VoteACM.com on March 25th and will close April 7th, with the winner being announced during the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
