Executive Vice President, Corporate Giving and Community Relations

​Jim Clayton serves as executive vice president of corporate giving and community relations for Scripps Networks Interactive and its portfolio of lifestyle media brands – HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel and Great American Country. In this role, he is responsible for the creation and implementation of the company’s philanthropic strategies on all levels, from local and civic involvement to national sponsorships and global initiatives.

Preceding this role, Clayton served as executive vice president of planning and strategy at Scripps where he oversaw the development of long-range strategic plans for Scripps’ brands and managed the business segment’s annual planning cycle, including operating and capital budgets. He also provided analysis and decision support for capital allocation decisions within the operating division.

Clayton has been part of the Scripps family since the launch of HGTV in 1994 and was with Cinetel Productions five years prior to The E.W. Scripps Company’s acquisition of the production company. Prior to joining Cinetel Productions, Clayton spent nine years in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), and KPMG.

Clayton served on the board of directors for the Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association (BCFMA), and is a past chairman of the Knoxville Open – PGA nationwide tour. Additionally, he is a graduate of the 2003 Class of Leadership Knoxville.

Clayton holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee and is a Certified Public Accountant in Tennessee.
